Your Lakeland Guide for every season

Between COLORS, FROST and WARMTH
Experience the changing beauty of the Lake District in two seasons!

In autumn, nature dresses itself in warm colors. Forests glow in gold, red, and copper, while leaves dance gently to the ground. The clear air smells of earth and ripe fruit, and the mist slowly rolls over the fields. Silence spreads, interrupted only by the rustling of leaves and the calls of migrating birds.

Winter transforms the Lake District into a quiet, glittering fairytale world. Snow covers meadows and forests, lakes rest peacefully beneath a thin layer of ice. Hoarfrost traces delicate patterns on branches and windowpanes. In the crisp, cold air, the landscape unfolds its very own magic—calm, powerful, and soothing.

Whether you prefer the vibrant colors of autumn or the quiet beauty of winter, the Oder-Spree Lake District enchants you with its special atmosphere in every season.

Discover Brandenburg's water kingdom

Escape from everyday life – into the peace and quiet by the water

Welcome to Brandenburg's water kingdom – even when it gets cooler, the Oder-Spree Lake District reveals its particularly quiet and magical side.
In the autumn months, golden forests are reflected in the clear lakes, and wisps of mist drift mysteriously over the rivers and lakes.

In winter, things get quieter—perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle. Ice floes float on the Oder, frozen lakes glitter in the winter sun, and with a bit of luck, you can hike through snowy landscapes on crunchy snow. Enjoy relaxing hours in a cozy vacation rental, sipping hot tea with a view of the water—or unwind in a thermal spa after a chilly day trip.

Whether you're looking for nature, quiet time out, or romantic winter moments, Brandenburg's water kingdom is worth a visit at any time of year.

From Brandenburg's oldest spa town, the route heads out into the vast and tranquil Oderbruch region, with a cultural excursion to Fontane in the village of Schiffmühle. Between rolling hills and expansive river meadows, vantage points with panoramic views beckon. In Hohenwutzen, the tour crosses the Oder into Poland – the westernmost point of the country and into the Cedyński bird sanctuary. Home to sea eagles, herons, and, in autumn, thousands of geese and cranes, this area is home. Back on the German side, the route continues along the perfectly straight Oderbruch Railway Cycle Path to Wriezen, passing stories of fishermen, traders, and border crossers. The loop concludes via historic Altranft with its Oderbruch Museum – a tour full of panoramic views, natural experiences, and small border adventures.

Eisenhuettenstadt

Culture, stories and cozy breaks

As autumn arrives and the days grow shorter, Eisenhüttenstadt reveals a quiet, relaxed side. The municipal museum, with its exhibitions, offers a special retreat to learn more about the history of the town and its people. The Friedrich Wolf Theater, with its special plays, provides cultural variety and pleasant hours during the darker seasons. The theater can now also be viewed from the inside as part of a guided tour. A guided walk through Eisenhüttenstadt allows you to discover the town's special buildings and stories. European twin cities Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice

From golden leaves to glittering lights

Between Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice beats the heart of a twin city that changes its face with the seasons. When the trees along the Oder River glow in warm colors in autumn and the cultural centers are packed, the Advent season is already upon us.

A walk across the city bridge leads to Słubice. From the roof terrace of the Collegium Polonicum, you can enjoy a sweeping view of both cities, and on particularly cold winter days, a rare natural spectacle can be observed on the Oder: the "Brieg geese" – large ice floes drifting leisurely downstream. Those wishing to discover the culinary side of the Polish side can enjoy typical Advent specialties in Słubice's many restaurants and cafés. In mid-December, the Słubice Christmas Market, with its varied stage program, arts and crafts, and culinary offerings, creates a pre-Christmas atmosphere in the city. Another winter highlight is the ice rink in Słubice, which is open for around three months from December.
