11th Storkow Autumn Poetry: Reading “Forest solitude has never been uncanny to me…” with Wolfgang de Bruyn

The writer Günter de Bruyn, honorary citizen of the district and his municipality of Tauche, would have turned 100 on November 1st. In 1967, while exploring the Mark Brandenburg region in the footsteps of Theodor Fontane, he discovered an empty, old sheepfold in the Blabbergraben valley, which he subsequently made his home and workplace. With his book "Abseits. Liebeserklärung an eine Landschaft" (Off the Beaten Track: A Love Letter to a Landscape), he brought the region around Storkow and Beeskow to national attention and created a lasting memorial to it.

During the reading and discussion, his son, Dr. Wolfgang de Bruyn, will read from the author's works and offer personal insights into his father's life and thought. He will also present the Günter de Bruyn Foundation, established in 2021, which is dedicated to preserving his literary legacy and developing the old sheepfold in the Blabbergraben valley near Görsdorf into a literary and community center – a commitment that will also be evident at the Günter de Bruyn House in Beeskow during this anniversary year.
