On a pivotal night, outsiders Michael and Laura meet. Their mutual friend Mathe has died, and this loss has changed them. Laura has withdrawn into herself, and Michael plans his escape: at midnight he will turn sixteen, then he intends to leave the city and shed the burden of the past. He wanders around, spraying graffiti messages—a silent, rebellious memorial to Mathe. Laura catches him in the act. Only reluctantly does Michael allow her to accompany him. The two are strangers to each other, connected by memories and their loneliness. Between mockery, rejection, and tentative closeness, they discover a freedom that comes from the courage to see themselves and each other differently.
The play, which won the German Youth Theatre Prize Special Prize in 2020, shows how grief can give rise to hope and loss to new strength.
