Permanent exhibition Everyday life: GDR

The permanent exhibition in Eisenhüttenstadt introduces visitors to everyday life, politics, and society in the GDR across ten rooms. The individual exhibition areas showcase the diverse facets of daily life in the GDR, encompassing family and work, and report on consumption, education, and communication opportunities. Further rooms explain the GDR's system of governance, shed light on the so-called "socialist way of life," and explore the opposition circles of the 1980s.
