The Art of Love (Part 1)

exhibition
As long as love lives, it will be sung about by artists of all tongues.
Gustav Seitz, 1961

The new special exhibition is dedicated to the erotic work of the German sculptor Gustav Seitz (1906–1969) – an artist whose work is deeply influenced by the exploration of the human body and love. Seitz created monumental sculptures, delicate drawings and expressive bronze reliefs that address the sensuality and transience of life.

The exhibition explores Seitz's artistic development, from the "Floating Volumes" that celebrate the happiness and wholeness of the female body to his expressive torsos of the 1960s. A special focus is on his drawings, including many works that are now being presented for the first time.

With numerous accompanying events.

Curator tours: Sundays, 15 p.m.: April 27, June 1, June 29, August 24, 2025

The second part of the exhibition will open on August 2th.
