The audience can expect an evening full of romantic timbres, emotional depth and virtuoso elegance – presented by the internationally renowned cellist Konstantin Manaev, who also holds the artistic direction of the music cycle, and the celebrated French pianist Pierre-Laurent Boucharlat.
The program features great masterpieces of the Romantic era: Johannes Brahms's passionate Sonata for Cello and Piano in E minor, Op. 38, and his Rhapsodies, Op. 79, for piano, considered the epitome of late Romantic expressiveness. After the intermission, two musical gems by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky will be performed: the delicately lyrical Andante cantabile and the magnificent Rococo Variations, a showpiece for cello, presented in a chamber music arrangement for cello and piano.
