Music at Altfriedland Monastery: Musica sequenza “INFERNO – a homage to Dante”
The Berlin-based ensemble Musica Sequenza presents a program inspired by the Florentine master Dante Alighieri: featuring works by Monteverdi, Frescobaldi, Gesualdo, Cavalli, and other masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Ensemble founder Burak Özdemir explains: “I was inspired by Dante’s fate, his political struggles after his execution in Florence. His art raised political and religious questions in the 14th century that are very similar to our own in the 21st century.”
