Guided tour - Art from the GDR

The Museum Utopia and Everyday Life in Beeskow is an open depot that allows visitors to directly discover a wide range of the works archived in it.

The depot can be visited as part of regularly scheduled tours and events. In addition, tours can also be booked for specific dates.

Large-format oil paintings, fragile works on paper, heavy bronze busts, fine ceramics, elaborately knotted tapestries – the collection of publicly funded artworks preserved in Beeskow offers various insights into the cultural and artistic system of the GDR.
Owned before 1990 by organizations such as the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB), the Cultural Association, or political parties, they now belong to the federal states of Berlin, Brandenburg, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. On the one hand, they reflect political and social norms; on the other hand, the collection invites exploration of its artistic and aesthetic qualities.
