Scythe course in Schlaubetal - reviving old crafts

  • Workshop/seminar

Tired of the noise of brush cutters and lawnmowers? For all lovers of peace and quiet, nature conservationists, nostalgics, and the like, the Friends of the Schlaubetal Nature Park Association and the Schlaubetal Nature Park are organizing a course on traditional scything for the seventh time this year. Experienced experts who still master the time-honored craft of scything will demonstrate how to use a hand scythe on a biodiverse wet meadow.

The event is aimed at anyone who wants to learn or refresh this ancient craft. The course teaches everything you need to know about scythe construction, proper ergonomic adjustment, mowing technique, and sharpening. Mowing will be practiced under supervision.

Participants can expect an exciting day in the fresh air with plenty of exercise and enjoyment of nature! Due to limited capacity, early registration is requested.

The meeting point is the parking lot at the Bremsdorfer Mühle youth hostel. From there, we will walk to the meadow by the Planfließ stream.
