Splinters in the head - experiences of imprisonment in the GDR
Film documentary in cooperation with the Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship and the Memorial and Documentation Center "Victims of Political Tyranny"
In East Germany there were 17 Stasi remand prisons and over 70 youth work camps.
The documentary features four people who were imprisoned and interned there for weeks and years for political reasons – for "anti-state agitation," "attempting to flee the republic," or "incorrigibility." Their lives were turned upside down overnight; they lost their families, their economic and social livelihoods. After the film, we would like to discuss our impressions, if desired.
A production by Jürgen Haase and Angela Henkel in co-production with rbb, funded by the Federal Foundation for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship, 2011.
