A journey through the underworld – A guided tour to burial sites and through the cellar vaults of St. Mary's Church

Just 250 years ago, the interior of St. Mary's was a sought-after burial site for civic leaders and middle-class families. Today, this part of history is only discernible at second glance. On this tour, visitors will gain insight into two cellar vaults, the Greiffenpfeil family burial plot and the newly restored Baroque burial plot in the south aisle. They will also learn interesting facts about the former burial culture in Frankfurt's St. Mary's Church. The focus will also be on the changes in the culture of remembrance after the Reformation and the gravestones that still remain in the church today.
The number of participants is limited to 14. The tour will only take place if there is a minimum of 5 participants. Tickets are available exclusively on the day of the event in the St. Marien shop. This tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility or children under 14 years of age.
