Taizé service in the village church of Bomsdorf

Taizé services are a special form of communal prayer. They aim at inner reflection. What distinguishes them from other services are, first and foremost, the songs from Taizé, an ecumenical community near Cluny in France: They are short and memorable, sung in multiple parts whenever possible, and, above all, repeated often. This is a form of meditation. A short passage from the Bible is read, followed by a period of silence: time to reflect on the biblical text, a song, or something else, or to pray. In pausing and finding stillness, we can bring before God what moves us.
