Frankfurt (Oder) is rich in once-significant buildings, now abandoned or destroyed, with a fascinating history. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAA) pursued an interesting approach with its "Lost Places" project. Long-time Frankfurt residents and immigrants jointly researched the history of "lost" places. The result is very interesting images that blend old postcard views with the present-day locations. It reveals how much was destroyed during the war and the efforts it took to restore Frankfurt Oder to a beautiful city. A warm invitation into the historical world of our hometown.
