Pristine nature along the Spree
A diverse range of flora and fauna live on the banks of the Spree. Attentive nature lovers can meet and observe otters, beavers and other animals that feed on the Spree's bounty. But pastures and meadows also allow us to observe animals that we would otherwise not see so quickly. The flow of our Spree is very pleasant and a relaxing trip even for inexperienced canoeists.
At Fürstenwalde, the Spree and the Oder-Spree Canal waterway join for a short section. Behind Fürstenwalde, the Müggelspree branches off from the Oder-Spree Canal and leads into a quiet course of the northern river arm through the meadows and pastures near Hangelsberg and Spreeau, which canoeists can also follow further.
By canoe to Schwielochsee
One of the most famous rivers that flows through Brandenburg to Berlin is the Spree. The town of Trebatsch is a particularly good starting point for a beautiful canoe tour along the Spree to Berlin. Water lovers can cross the winding course of the Spree. You can discover rustic landscapes, special animals such as herons and excellent fishing grounds.
A detour to the expansive Schwielochsee is also recommended. To do this, you can simply turn off to the northern end of the lake. With a water surface area of 13,3 km², it is the largest natural lake in our beautiful state of Brandenburg. There are many opportunities around the lake for swimming and enjoying our beautiful lake district.
