In the former Cöthen distillery – on the edge of the Barnim Plateau towards the Oderbruch – a café is located in the former machine hall next to the technical monument "steam engine from 1875." Here, a 1951 espresso machine prepares various coffee drinks using fair trade and organic espresso beans. There's also a small selection of homemade cakes, including sustainably produced ingredients and without artificial additives.
Newspapers are available, and light jazz music usually plays. There's a sunny, leafy courtyard that also offers shade, and the exhibition space, where contemporary art is on display, is usually open.
The steam engine in the machine hall is the oldest steam engine in Berlin and Brandenburg still in its original location.
Cultural events such as concerts, exhibitions and literary evenings take place regularly in the “Great Hall”.
The organization is a non-profit organization dedicated to culture, heritage preservation, science, and community engagement. The spaces are open to people of all genders, colors, backgrounds, and ages.
