A surprising gem on the hiking and cycling trails of the region: the lovingly decorated café with a small organic food shop in the former cowshed on the Ihlow organic farm.
Here, guests not only get freshly baked yeast fruit cakes, a traditional poppy seed cake, quark cakes, tarts, fresh rolls and home-made juices, but also hearty dishes that will make you regret having eaten something before: a wonderful salad with goat's or sheep's cheese from the region, at least one soup, one vegetarian and one meat dish.
Anyone who sits outside on the meadow orchard next to the pond - the habitat of many frogs, rare fire-bellied toads and herons - will not want to get up again because it is simply too idyllic to leave. If the weather is colder, there is nothing cozier than getting a seat inside the guest room near the wood-burning fireplace after a hike or a tour of the village (traditional fieldstone buildings, antique shop, studios of local artists), enjoying a tea with rum, warming up and looking out.
The newest Ihlow village attraction is the directly neighboring Ponyhof-Ihlow (www.ponyhof-ihlow.de)
For children, the café always serves pancakes with apple sauce and crispy fried potatoes that no chips can compare to, organic ice cream of course, and lots to discover on the spacious meadow, by the pond and on a walk through the village. Rare Aubrac cattle graze there, horses (especially the herd of small ponies next door!!), sheep and goats graze on spacious meadows, and chickens peck at worms as usual. The frogs and toads are close by, right next to the café tables, and the two farm cats love to lie curled up in the sun, as many guests would love to do right away.
On Sundays, the café offers a breakfast buffet (please reserve online, by SMS, by messenger or simply by phone).
By arrangement, groups can also come outside of opening hours. Those who wish can stay overnight.
