The Ristorante di Piano is located in a beautiful house whose name is closely linked to Erkner - Bechsteins, the beautiful building at the roundabout in Erkner.
The Bechstein family lived in a villa in Erkner on Friedrichstrasse, which is now the old part of the town hall. Bechstein, that sounds like music. Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Bechstein was born in the royal seat of Gotha on June 1, 1826. At the age of 27, on October 1, 1853, Carl Bechstein took over the management of the Perau company in Berlin. Since then, this day has been considered the founding date of the C. Bechstein piano factory.
Carl Bechstein came into contact with Erkner in the summer months. By 1874 he is said to have owned a property in Erkner. A travel guide from 1884 describes a proud villa with a magnificent park. A newspaper article from 1889 states that the demolished villa of the world-famous piano manufacturer Carl Bechstein is being rebuilt. In the immediate vicinity of the new Bechsteins, which has housed an Italian restaurant since March 2018, there is another prominent house, that of Gerhart Hauptmann.
When the weather is nice, there is a large terrace where you can enjoy an ice cream sundae or two.
