Palais Brut

The Palais Brut in Müncheberg is an outstanding example of the creative transformation of East German prefabricated housing into a modern, sustainable holiday home. Originally built in 1990 as a semi-detached house of the GDR-era WBS 70 type, the building was extensively redesigned by owner Patrick Petzold and architect Hans Sasse. The characteristic exposed aggregate concrete facade was deliberately preserved, while the interior was converted into two light-filled, spacious holiday apartments.

The larger **duplex apartment** offers 135 m² of living space for up to eight people, featuring three bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen/living area, a mezzanine level, and two bathrooms. The smaller **studio apartment**, at 55 m², is ideal for couples. Both units have private terraces overlooking the expansive garden and the surrounding fields. A special highlight is the shared garden sauna, perfect for year-round relaxation.

The interior design combines raw concrete surfaces with warm wood elements and carefully selected vintage furniture, much of which has been recycled or restored. This blend of old and new creates a unique atmosphere that preserves the charm of the original prefabricated building while offering modern living comfort.

Located on the edge of the Märkische Schweiz region, Palais Brut is an ideal base for nature and culture enthusiasts. Numerous lakes, hiking and cycling trails, and cultural institutions such as the Brecht House in Buckow are nearby. Additionally, the on-site Maxbee apiary offers insights into sustainable beekeeping and honey production.
