The Waltersberge inland dune rises 36 meters above the northern shore of the Großer Storkower See (Great Storkow Lake). From here, there is a sweeping view across the lake and the surrounding landscape, shaped by the Ice Age. The dune is one of the largest of its kind in Brandenburg and is designated a natural monument. It provides habitat for rare plants and animals, including the antlion. Those who enjoy the breathtaking view from the inland dune can sense the special connection between nature, history, and landscape that characterizes the Oder-Spree lake district. It's a place that demonstrates how vividly Ice Age history can still resonate today.
