Schlaubetal

The Schlaube meanders for 27 kilometers through wild, romantic valleys, swampy meadows, sometimes thick bushes, sometimes vast forests, and its clear water feeds picturesque lakes and mills from bygone times in the Schlaubetal Nature Park.

Beautiful flora

The flora in the Schlaubetal is so diverse that wherever you look, there is always something to discover.

A truly special natural spectacle takes place on the edge of the Schlaubetal valley from August into autumn. It is the flowering season of the purple heather, which transforms the Henzendorf Heath into a sea of ​​purple.

Autumn is the time for mushroom pickers. Chanterelles, chestnut mushrooms and porcini mushrooms fill the baskets. Forest fruits such as cranberries and blueberries are also very popular.

Special animal world

Cranes, sea eagles, grey herons and many other bird species feel more than at home in the small stream and with a bit of luck you can even see the rare kingfisher here. Look out for the small bird with the beautiful blue-orange plumage!

The enormous number of butterfly species also make the nature park something very special.

During the rutting season in October, attentive hikers can listen to the impressive roar of the red deer.
