The Kneipp health concept has been constantly evolving for 150 years. The original water and herbal medicine has evolved into a complete and highly recognized health concept. Life according to Kneipp is simple, costs almost nothing - not even much time - and gets people moving.

In the middle of the enchanting Märkische Schweiz lies Buckow, the only recognized Kneipp health resort in Brandenburg. There is probably no better place near Berlin in which to experience and practice the five active principles of the Kneipp healing method:

One pillar of Kneipp medicine is hydrotherapy, i.e. the use of water, e.g. Kneipp showers or water treading. Kneipp water treading is often used for general hardening and strengthening.

Kneipp herb garden

At the entrance to the castle park, right behind the tourist information building, is the herb garden. The garden, which is open all year round, displays a selection of predominantly local herbs that Sebastian Kneipp considered to be particularly effective against illnesses.

In addition, the idyllic location on the Stöbber offers a cozy retreat for relaxation for mind and soul. There is (of course) also a water treading area.

The longer I spend time with the sick, the clearer it becomes to me that God, the Creator of all things, has given us half the pharmacy in water and the other half in herbs.

Ice Age Garden The rock garden is located near the Brecht-Weigel-Haus on the Buckowsee promenade.

Castle Park The Buckow Castle Park, originally laid out in the 17th century, was reconstructed according to historical plans and today combines relaxation and nature with art and culture in a very special way.

Anyone who would like to learn more about the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park can start their discovery tour in Nature Park Visitor Center Schweizer Haus in the Kneipp health resort of Buckow.

In an exciting exhibition covering almost 200 square meters and numerous events, you can learn a lot of interesting facts about the animals and plants, culture and landscape of the nature park - some of them multimedia.

On the NaturaTrail in the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park, a few kilometers east of Berlin, there are some differences in altitude that challenge every hiker. But it is also the many magical places to pause and take a deep breath in nature that make this tour special. The gorges are particularly dramatic: deep cuts in the landscape are evidence of ice age meltwater streams. The ups and downs impressively convey the mountainous character of the Brandenburg "mini Alps".
