Löcknitztal nature reserve
The 448 hectare nature reserve along the Löcknitz is a unique habitat for rare animal and plant species. The river stretches for over 20 kilometers through picturesque meanders and provides a habitat for around 100 species of birds, including the crane. In winter, many birds use the valley to search for food.
Werlsee & Peetzsee
The connected lakes offer both relaxation and activities and are perfect for families. With their great sandy beaches, numerous sunbathing options and a wide range of leisure activities such as swimming, water sports and relaxing sunbathing or a leisurely stroll around the lake, they offer the ideal environment for local recreation and family outings.
The disati climbing park, located directly on the beach, consists of 90 unique elements at heights of up to 15 meters, offering views over Lake Werl. It's not about athletic prowess, but about fun, teamwork, skill, and courage on the shores of our beautiful lake. A modern safety system ensures safety. Together with the beach and bar, the climbing park makes for a great day trip.

The Löcknitztal nature reserve extends over 488 hectares in the Oder-Spree Lake District, between Kienbaum and Grünheide in the Berlin-Fürstenwalde Spree Valley lowlands. The Löcknitz River flows through the valley in a 13 km long fen.
Originally formed by ice age meltwater, the valley was first used in the 18th century. In the 1960s it was largely used for agriculture before it was declared a nature reserve in 1984 and included in the Natura 2002 network in 2000.
The area is managed by the Löcknitztal interest group and has received awards for its nature conservation measures. Through cooperation with the German Nature Conservation Association, part of the area is used for sheep grazing in order to promote rare plant species.
Visitors can explore some areas via hiking trails. The fen is largely untouched and offers good conditions for the restoration of species-rich meadows. In addition to alder swamp forests and pastures, there are spring meadows, wet meadows and nutrient-poor wet meadows.
The fauna includes over 20 species of fish in the river as well as endangered plant species such as orchids. Over 100 species of birds have been sighted, including the crane and the osprey. A total of 650 species of large butterflies have been identified in the valley and its surroundings.
Fishing in and around Grünheide
In Grünheide, various bodies of water offer optimal conditions for anglers of all experience levels. The navigable Löcknitz, comparable to a canal, offers a wide range of fishing opportunities. West of the A10 motorway bridge you will find a natural section of the Löcknitz, while towards Werlsee both banks are lined with private properties.
On the straightened banks, the water quickly turns into the fairway, where the bait should be presented. Float fishing can be difficult due to the regular passing of pleasure boats. When sitting and waiting, bottom or feeder fishing is the first choice. Rudd, roach and bream are regular catches, while tench and carp are also present.
The Bernd Lupe fishing company is responsible for the management and sells fishing licenses on site. Pike and perch can be caught with spinners, lures and wobblers, while zander anglers rely on rubber fish guided close to the bottom.
The Möllensee, Peetzsee and Werlsee, all located in Grünheide, offer further fishing opportunities. The Peetzsee, for example, is up to 19 meters deep and offers a variety of fish species such as pike, catfish, perch and zander.
