Hiking tours Storkow (Mark)

explore the stork city on foot

Storkow (Mark) and the surrounding area can be best explored on one of the many hikes and walking tours. The hike to the Waltersberge inland dune is particularly recommended.

The approximately 5-kilometer-long hike starts at the castle, takes you through the old town, over the historic drawbridge and then to the other side of Lake Storkow. Then you leave the paved paths and dive into the Märkische Streusandbüchse with its giant pine trees. Now one of the highest inland dunes in Germany opens up before you, and there is no sea at all. It is thanks to the Ice Age. When the glaciers retreated, large vegetation-free landscapes remained. Strong winds then piled up the sand to form dunes. Wine was once even grown there on a sunny slope. The popular "Alter Weinberg" restaurant still bears witness to this today; you should definitely stop off there after your hike and try the famous "Tschech-Kugeln".

So she grabbed her recording device and met interesting people on her forays through the Oder-Spree Lake District. The result is podcast episodes that provide insights into the work and voluntary commitment of many people in the Lake District. They report on tours and describe the beautiful and water-rich natural landscape of the Lake District.
