In the city and yet in the middle of the countryside
Once known as the trading center of the Oderbruch, Wriezen is now an ideal starting point for excursions into the Oderbruch and the entire region. Whether on foot, by bike, by train or by car - the town of Wriezen offers a lot as a stopover on your journey of discovery through the Oderbruch that you might not expect at first glance.
The town's coat of arms and the devil figure by local sculptor Horst Engelhardt on the market fountain are reminders of the town's heyday, which was characterized by fish trading and agriculture. Wriezen's importance as a trading center is also reflected in monuments and historic buildings in the town, such as the late Gothic Catholic town church of St. Mary, the imposing Baroque-style savings bank building and the town hall.
