BEAUTY OAK – fair and upcycled fashion and home textiles

BEAUTY OAK combines a love of nature and the individuality of each person with sustainable design and local craftsmanship. In the studio with workshop and shop space in Woltersdorf on the southeastern outskirts of Berlin, unique textile items are handmade from discarded clothing and organically certified fabrics.

The collection includes high-quality clothing, accessories and home textiles. The studio wants to make a contribution to minimising mountains of clothing waste and create a new awareness of the appreciation of craftsmanship and environmental resources. Our focus is on the responsible and environmentally friendly use of resources and the return of discarded clothing to the recycling cycle.

The supposed textile waste is given new life and a new chance to be valuable. The materials used come either from private clothing donations or from the cooperation with Textilhafen Berlin. The textiles are professionally and carefully cleaned in a laundry, among other places. After the seams have been unpicked, they are now prepared for further processing. 

The inspiration for the actual design idea comes from the material available and its quantity, so that the design of the cuts, silhouettes and colors is adapted accordingly. The fabric scraps created during cutting are also reused by using them as material for appliqués on clothing or for small accessories and home textiles. This reduces waste almost completely. This slow fashion idea is complemented by the fact that the textiles are sometimes processed on both sides, so that they can be worn or used reversibly, which gives them a dual function and underlines the sustainability aspect.

In addition to offering unique items and small series, workshops on textile upcycling are also offered.
