Bötzsee (fishing lake)

fishing waters
Surrounded by deciduous and coniferous trees, the three-kilometer-long and up to 400-meter-wide Bötzsee lies between the towns of Altlandsberg and Strausberg. The Bötzsee is part of the Strausberg and Blumenthal forest and lake area conservation area and has good water quality. With a water depth of up to 16 meters, eel, perch, bream, grass carp, pike, carp, roach, rudd, catfish, pikeperch and the occasional burbot and other fish species thrive here. The reed-bordered water is managed by the Martin Rinast fishing company in Strausberg. Please note: In some cases, different closed seasons and minimum sizes apply than in DAV waters.

Rental boats can be rented on the west side of the lake, but combustion engines are not allowed on the Bötzsee. Night fishing is permitted, but requires an additional permit. The entire lake can be walked around on a hiking trail in a long walk (approx. 2,5 hours). Swimmers have priority at the bathing areas during the bathing season. However, you can fish undisturbed from the boat. It is worth casting artificial bait along the reed edges to catch pike and perch. From the anchored boat, you can also catch good numbers of whitefish on the sloping edges. The Bötzsee also enjoys a good reputation as a winter water for ice anglers.
