The Military History Special Object 301 houses the only remaining troposphere-based communications system of the NVA as well as an extensive collection of vehicles, technology and equipment.
Until 1990, Object 301 was known only to insiders and was classified as one of the GDR's most secret projects. Even after that, the site was mainly known to local residents, but not open to the public.
Today, however, things are different. The association "Military Historical Special Object 301 Wollenberg eV" offers tours of the object for interested visitors. The tours are based on the topics of the Cold War, the NVA, communications technology, electrical engineering, vehicle technology and radio technology and are divided into different areas.
