The Castle Beeskow, first mentioned in documents in 1316, is an impressive testimony to the region's medieval history. Originally built as a knight's castle, it later served as a bishop's estate and was finally used by the Hohenzollerns. Today the castle shines as a lively cultural and educational center that combines history and modernity in a unique way.
Historic ensemble with a view
The listed Beeskow Castle ensemble combines buildings from the years 1250 to 1550 and offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in times gone by. The 30-meter-high keep with its viewing platform offers an impressive view of the town and the surrounding area.
Cultural diversity: theater, music and exhibitions
The castle has been a lively venue for events since the 1990s. Theater performances, concerts and festivals regularly bring the historic walls to life. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, there are up to three temporary exhibitions at the same time, focusing on painting, graphics, book art, sculpture and photography.
Museum Oder-Spree: A place of learning and design
The castle has been home to the Oder-Spree Museum for 65 years. In addition to regional history, it is dedicated to current topics and sees itself as a place for work and negotiations on issues relevant to the future. A museum workshop and exciting temporary exhibitions make the visit a special experience.
Beeskow Music Museum: A Soundful Journey Through Time
The music museum on the castle grounds offers a fascinating collection of instruments from the years 1848 to 1927. Visitors can discover and hear the sounds of rare sound machines such as orchestrions, trumpet organs and automatic pianos. Several thousand music rolls for mechanical musical instruments are also part of the collection.
Burgschreiber:innen: Literature in a historical setting
Literary creators have the opportunity to live and work at the castle for six months as a castle scribe. A scholarship and free accommodation in the castle scribe's room allow them to concentrate fully on their creative work.
Culinary and relaxation
The café-restaurant cucina verde in the picturesque castle courtyard invites you to linger. Here, guests can relax with a coffee or a meal and enjoy the atmosphere of the historic complex.
Beeskow Castle combines history, culture and recreation and offers a varied program for all interested parties. Whether a walk through the medieval ensemble, a concert visit or a discovery tour through the museums - a visit is worthwhile at any time of year.
