In the heart of the city shines the completely reconstructed Storkow (Mark) Castle in new splendor. 800 years after it was first mentioned, in 1209, it was handed over to the citizens and guests and developed into a tourist and cultural attraction. Today the castle presents the diverse natural and cultural history of the region between the Oder, Dahme and Spree and is also the visitor information center of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park.
The exhibition on the ground floor, "From bone dry to soaking wet," is a special experience for young and old: the nature park's habitat types and their special or typical inhabitants are presented in walk-in cabinets with many elements to touch and discover. Other permanent and special exhibitions are located in the basement and in the gallery on the top floor.
The tourist information office, the town library and the castle parlor on the castle grounds invite you to linger. A wide range of events such as concerts, readings and theatre in the event hall or on the open-air stage guarantee a varied stay in Storkow.
