We owe the idea for the small Spreewald Park in Schöneiche on the eastern outskirts of Berlin to the imaginative innkeeper Max Mann in the 1920s, who created an artificial canal landscape similar to the Spreewald to attract more guests to his restaurant. It was used for boat trips like in the more distant Spreewald.
The park, which is now run by the Naturschutzaktiv Schöneiche e. V. association, offers a variety of educational and adventure trails for getting to know nature. In the partially silted-up water basin of the former bathing establishment, fish feel very comfortable among the reeds and water lilies, and a giant dinosaur stands on the bank of the water. Large parts of the park can be accessed again via wooden bridges and footbridges and nature in the landscape can be discovered. It can be explored on foot on a water trail, art trail, nature trail, sensory trail or a geological trail. A herb display garden introduces visitors to native plants.
If you want to come here with children, you will find plenty of space to play and romp around.
