village church in Steinhöfel

  • Churches
The plastered fieldstone building of the village church in Steinhöfel consists of parts from several construction periods. The choir was built in the second half of the 13th century, the nave and tower in the 14th and 15th centuries respectively, and the wooden structure in 1778. The interior of the church is impressively furnished. The artistically painted patron's box, which has now been restored, was donated by Balthasar Dietloff von Wulffen and his wife Louise von Beerfelde around 1720/30. The gravestones of the Wulffen family are in the choir walls. The tone-on-tone paintings of the box probably come from a model from the Netherlands. The richly decorated altar from the beginning of the 18th century used to have an integrated pulpit, but this was later removed and given a picture of Christ in 1909. The painted wooden baptismal font from 1671 is also an eye-catcher.
