Built on the foundations of a previous building from the 14th century and consecrated in 1867. The church was fundamentally rebuilt in 1902. The foundations of the church contained the graves of the long-established Junker family of Löschebrands, who owned large parts of the estates around Scharmützelsee. The graves were filled in when the new church was built.
There was a prophecy surrounding the old church bell and the Löschebrand family: if the bell stopped ringing, the Löschebrands' happiness would be over. In 1793, the bell started to clatter on Pentecost. It was pulled to Berlin by six horses and a pious saying was cast into it. However, the Löschebrands' happiness was over from then on.
The ceiling-high altar in the peasant baroque style was created by Daniel Schultz in 1661. The graves of the former UFA actors Harry Liedtke (buried in 1945) and Käthe Dorsch (buried in 1957) are located in the cemetery next to the church.
