Ice Age Garden Buckow

gardens and parks
Huge ice masses, which were up to several hundred meters thick above Buckow, and the subsequent meltwater gave the Märkische Schweiz its current shape: high ridges and plateaus, lakes, valleys and gorges as well as sandy areas and dunes.
The Ice Age formation of the nature park and the formative power of ice, which can be traced through the boulders grouped in arches, are special themes to which the Ice Age Garden in Buckow is dedicated. Large and small boulders that came to Märkische Schweiz with the last Ice Age around 12.000 years ago are stored here: Rapakiwi granite from the Aland Islands, Baltic Sea porphyry and Jotnian sandstone from central Sweden can be admired here.
The rock garden is located near the Brecht-Weigel-Haus on the Buckowsee promenade.
