gardens and parks
The Henzendorf boulder park is located on the way from Henzendorf to the heath, on the edge of the wild and romantic Schlaubetal nature park.

The Schlaubetal enchants thousands of nature lovers in every season with its very varied nature with its pristine forests, in which many streams and rivers can be discovered, but also with extensive swamps, meadows and heaths, which extend in contrast to the numerous forest areas. Above all, due to the former use as a military area, the southern areas were cut off from civilization and were able to develop untouched. This created ideal

Prerequisites for the undisturbed expansion of the heath on the dry and nutrient-poor sandy areas. For all nature lovers, the Henzendorfer Heide, as part of the Schlaubetal Nature Park, is a worthwhile destination. It is particularly beautiful in August and September when the heather is in bloom, spreading like a purple carpet over the flat ground. From the observation tower, you have a fantastic view over the expanse of the heath.

The boulder park is located on the way from Henzendorf to the heath. It was not created by the Ice Age, but by human hands. Nestled in a wild, romantic landscape, it invites you to linger, dream and relax. Its impressive ensemble of boulders has made it one of the most popular regional destinations near the municipality of Henzendorf. Especially when the weather is nice, it attracts many leisure seekers to picnic by bike or car. But carriage rides through the hilly, stone-rich terrain with over 2000 boulders, pagan deities and rune tablets are also very popular. At the entrance to the park, a display board provides information about the open-air exhibition. Huge boulders are still being recovered from the Lusatian open-cast mining areas and are made available to the boulder park for further processing. Initiated by the sculptor Ulrich Thiel, a timeline of human development set in stone can be admired on the field path between Henzendorf and the heath.

Artists from Poland and Berlin created artistic statues, reliefs, mystical figures and paintings based on Celtic and Hittite stonemasonry. These works are also intended to represent 2.000 years of contemporary history. The processed and unprocessed boulders were set up on a 4-hectare site.
