Friedrich-Wilhelm-Kanal

Industrial Culture
The Friedrich Wilhelm Canal, with its original 14 locks and 8 bridges, was the first connection between the Oder and Spree and for over 200 years was the most important trade route between Wroclaw (Breslau) and Hamburg. After the locks were destroyed at the end of the Second World War, a unique natural idyll developed, which invites you to take walks and cycle tours on the cycle path that runs along its banks. The Friedrich Wilhelm Canal is one of the oldest inland waterways in Germany and is a listed building. Today, it is particularly important for the image of the town of Groß Lindow. On a barge trip, you can discover the diverse flora and fauna along the canal.
