Altranft Geological Trail

gardens and parks
The oldest and most famous geological nature trail in the state of Brandenburg is in Altranft, a district of Bad Freienwalde. Under the direction of Hans Ohnesorg, the long-time director of the Oberlandesmuseum Bad Freienwalde, the nature trail was created in 1964 with a group of students from Altranft on the site of a sand pit. Designated a natural monument in 1989, the Altranft geological nature trail has been a protected part of the landscape since 1990. Vegetation has a firm grip on the nature trail, and much of it is now overgrown. The enchanted impression has something adventurous about it.

The overgrown Altranft geological nature trail can be reached via the B 167; at the crossroads, a sign points the way to the nature trail. If you come from Bad Freienwalde and drive towards Baasee, the nature trail is on the right just behind the railway bridge. There are parking spaces at the entrance to the village. From here, you can continue on foot.
