gardens and parks
What used to be the cemetery of the St. Gertraud Church in the Guben suburb of Frankfurt (Oder) is now the Gertraudenpark and is located between the church and the House of Arts, the former St. Spiritus Hospital. If you walk through the park with your eyes open, you will still find old gravestones of famous people such as the poet Ewald von Kleist, for whom the monument was donated by the Frankfurt Masonic Lodge. The former Viadrina professor and founder of the "Royal Learned Society for the Benefit of Science and the Arts" Joachim Georg Darjes has also been buried here since 1791 and was given a monument by Gottfried Schadow.

The most important monument, however, is dedicated to the city's most famous son, Heinrich von Kleist. It was created in 1910 by the Berlin artist Gottlieb Elster and shows a youth, a medallion with Kleist's head on the front and final scenes from various Kleist plays on the other sides. Straight paths, spacious lawns and a magnificent tree population characterize Frankfurt's smallest park.
