The Grosser Glubigsee is part of the Glubigsee chain of lakes and draws its water from the nearby lakes, such as the Grubensee and Springsee. The area surrounding the lakes is 88 percent forested. The swimming area at the Grosser Glubigsee is located at the southern end of the lake in a holiday park and features a jetty with a diving area. Kayaks can be rented at the Fischhaus Wendisch Rietz, on the Kleiner Glubigsee.
The 66-Lakes hiking trail runs close to the bathing area in a north-south direction.
