farm shop at Gut Hirschaue

Hofläden
The Hirschaue estate stands for organic wild animal husbandry and is unique in Germany. On 200 hectares, organic farmers Michael & Henrik Staar keep fallow deer, red deer and mouflon, as well as Märkische Saddleback pigs, a long-legged cross between a German Saddleback pig and a wild boar.

gentle wild animal husbandry
The sophisticated crop rotation is characterized by alternating grazing by wild animals and pigs. The animals live outdoors all year round - until they are shot in their natural environment without stress and then processed into meat and sausage products in the farm's own butcher's shop. The farm was awarded both the 2008 Organic Farming Prize and the 2008 Brandenburg Nature Conservation Prize.
