The Catholic parish in Storkow was founded in 1911. For structural reasons, the first location in an old building on the market in Storkow had to be abandoned in 1992. The parish used the church's own land in the Hubertushöhe district to build a new church and was able to inaugurate the parish church of St. Mary on October 18, 1998. The modern church building was built on the plan of a fish, both inside and out. Wood was used as the main building material and the roof was covered with slate, like the scales of a fish. The tail fin shows a cross cut out in the building. The glued wood trusses inside the church span the building like fish bones and the altar also has the shape of a fish. The altar window has the abstract shape of a cross and is about seven meters high. The orientation to the east offers a wonderful play of colors at sunrise.
