Katjasee (fishing lake)

Katja is Helene's little sister - that's how you could put it. To be more precise: The 30 hectare Katjasee is connected to the much larger Helenesee by a canal-like neck. Anglers find plenty of peace and quiet at the Katjasee and can look forward to a balanced fish population. Eel, perch, bream, pike, crucian carp, carp, roach, tench and rudd are the main fish species - and some of them are absolutely dream sizes. Coarse fish anglers report seeing huge roach and bream patrolling the edges of the deeper water (up to over 20 metres). Tench are just as regular prey as carp, which reach good weights here. In spring, the south bank is the first port of call for coarse fish anglers. Pike anglers also have success here if they systematically cast artificial bait along the edges of the large weed fields. Perch often lurk here too, so both species can be caught with smaller baits.

The banks of the other parts of the lake drop quickly to greater depths, but the edges are always worth a try. Unfortunately, Lake Katja is very difficult to fish from the banks, as there are no suitable fishing spots. And access itself is also difficult and requires long walks. Boats can be rented on the main beach of Lake Helene.

A good fishing area is the mouth of the cut in the north-western part of the lake. Here you can often see eel anglers using worms or bait fish to catch the slithering fish, which can be up to one meter long. This can be described as a great catch.

Pike and perch can be caught in the open water. Pike anglers use large bait in order to perhaps catch a large specimen more than a meter long. In the evening, pike often come close to the surface, while during the day they have to be searched for in the deeper areas. Artificial bait and bait fish are equally successful at Katjasee.
