Churches
When Bad Saarow developed into a flourishing spa town at the beginning of the 20th century, calls for its own church became louder. The architect Ernst Kopp was eventually commissioned to build the church. The church was consecrated on October 29, 1922. Since inflation occurred during the construction of the church, the building is unusually small.
The church has a light plaster finish and is built in the neo-baroque style. The slightly curved gable with several small windows is a striking feature. The altar, pulpit and baptismal font date from the time of construction and are kept simple. On July 22.07.1933, XNUMX, Anny Ondra and the boxer Max Schmeling were married here in church.
The bronze cross is more recent and was designed by the artist Paul Gnekow in 2008. In the north-west corner of the church hangs a light angel, also made of bronze. It is an image of the wooden light angel from Lübeck, which was lost in the Second World War. The organ with one manual is from the Schuke company in Potsdam.
