The Klosterbrauerei Neuzelle is located at the gates of the Cistercian monastery of Neuzelle. It is the last monastery brewery in Brandenburg that is still in production. Beer has been brewed here according to old artisanal traditions for over 400 years. Initially only for the monks' own use, later (1589) for the surrounding villages, and today it is shipped worldwide on request. However, the dark brown, tasty drink cannot be called beer, but has to make do with the name "Black Abbot". But that has not diminished its popularity among visitors and locals.
During a tour of the brewery, you can look over the brewer's shoulder and learn more about the noble drink, which you can then taste.
