Museum Fürstenwalde

Museums
Im Museum Fürstenwalde There is an exhibition on the prehistory and early history of the region, on the history of the over 700 year old town of Fürstenwalde, information on the development of the town, medieval trade and on the episcopal town of Fürstenwalde. The Gerhard Goßmann Gallery provides an insight into the work of the Fürstenwalde graphic artist and painter, who became known above all for his book illustrations. The museum also shows the over 150 year industrial history of Fürstenwalde, including a real lighthouse that was built here in 1909.

The Fürstenwalde Museum also houses one of the largest collections of drift rocks in Europe. Walter Bennhold's collections can be admired in an exhibition magazine. A rock garden has been created in the Bürgerpark by the cathedral directly in front of the museum, which was designed according to geological and museum-educational criteria. The Ice Age flyer on the drift rock collection can be accessed on the Fürstenwalde City Museum website.

The importance of the city as a former beer metropolis can be experienced at a show in the nearby Ratskeller. Tasting today's Fürstenwalder beer, produced by the private brewery located in the same cellar, is recommended.
