The Museum Heavenly Theater Neuzelle Monastery presents the Passion Cycle of the Holy Sepulchre, a monastic treasure unique in Europe. Large-format canvases and wooden panels impressively depict the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in 15 scenes and five stage sets—like a baroque stage play.
The works were created around 1750 and are considered outstanding in their scope, size, and artistic quality. The Passion Cycle has been on permanent display at the museum since 2015. Two fully restored scenes—"Prayer on the Mount of Olives" and "Crowning of Jesus with Thorns"—are being presented to the public for the first time in over 150 years.
The museum offers a rare insight into Baroque art, technology and religious history.
