Museum Viadrina (Junkerhaus)
The Museum Viadrina is the largest cultural history museum in East Brandenburg, with its main office in Junker HouseThe Museum Viadrina is a fascinating, nationally significant architectural monument. Resting on medieval cellars, the building was formerly the residence of the princes of the Brandenburg ruling house and other young noblemen during their studies at Brandenburg's first state university. With its Baroque reconstruction at the end of the seventeenth century, it acquired a city palace-like character and became the Electoral and later Royal House. Since the end of the 18th century, it has served various private and official purposes. In 1957, the museum moved into its first rooms in the Junkerhaus. The Museum Viadrina offers visitors the opportunity to explore Frankfurt's significant role in the Middle Ages, the history of the Alma Mater Viadrina, aspects of military history, Frankfurt's rich and renowned musical history, and urban development up to the twentieth century through its permanent exhibition and temporary displays.
