Ratzdorf - At the foot of the Oder and Neisse
Ratzdorf is a worthwhile destination at any time of year. Here you have a fantastic view over the wide Oder floodplains and an idyllic river landscape that is always bizarre. The water of the Oder and Neisse is subject to constant fluctuations - sometimes extremely low and then again extremely high, to the point of being untamable.
Where the waters of the great Oder and the lively Neisse merge to form a mighty river, you are surrounded by a very special atmosphere. When the sun shines over the meadows and the waters of the two border rivers gently rush by, you can simply let your soul unwind. The unique river landscape with its diverse flora and fauna has its own special charm and magically casts a spell over visitors.
A fantastic natural spectacle can be experienced in the cold winter months, when the ice floes dance merrily on the Oder or pile up on top of each other.

In recent history, Ratzdorf became known worldwide due to the flood of the century in 1997. The gauge house became a landmark that was featured in all media and attracted a lot of attention.
Even Michael Jackson donated to a playground in Ratzdorf.

Due to its natural conditions, Ratzdorf was the only place in the region that made its living from shipping. This also shaped the town, where you come across silent witnesses of the past at every turn.

The Monk's Tour and the Oder-Neisse Cycle Route, the easternmost long-distance cycle route in Germany, run through Ratzdorf. A small cyclist's church in the village invites you to take a breather and pause for a moment. It was built during the GDR era and has a very special history. Directly opposite the church is the cemetery, where there is a crypt that has been restored in recent years. It is the family crypt of the then very influential merchant Ropert, who owned a royal salt factory.

Guided tours through Ratzdorf and the surrounding landscape along the Oder and Neisse rivers are available by prior arrangement with the Neuzelle Visitor Information Office.
