A beautiful pearl of neo-Gothic architecture awaits you at Reichenow Castle, which has remained completely in its original form, as the builder, August Freiherr von Eckhardstein, wished for between 1897 and 1900 and was implemented by the architect Hauer. He was inspired by the typical English aristocratic country estates from the Tudor period, which is easy to see when you look closely at the architecture.
The castle could be a wonderful backdrop for historical films. Since it has been preserved without any alterations, it is an outstanding example of this style in Brandenburg. The architectural style began around 1834/35 with Schinkel's construction of the Babelsberg Castle and was widespread in Prussia at this time. The two-storey plastered building with its high base made of granite rubble is characterized by projecting loggias, balustrades, corner turrets and battlements. This makes it look like a small fairytale castle. The original spatial structure of the building has been completely preserved. In some rooms there are even original floor coverings and wall and ceiling paneling. The original wall tiles are in the kitchen.
The castle is idyllically situated at the end of the village of Reichenow with its associated estate and the landscape park on the Long Lake. It thus forms a successful symbiosis with architecture, nature and water. The hilly surroundings, into which the castle fits smoothly into the sloping terrain in the park to the east and south of it, leading down to the lake, offer a wonderful view of nature. The landscape park was created between 1900 and 1904. The natural conditions became part of the overall landscape architectural planning, which took up an extraordinary harmony of all natural elements.
The Long Lake can be walked around on a relaxing hike. The castle has a hotel that invites you to visit the restaurant or stay overnight. The estate also houses interesting artistic sites.
