gardens and parks
On the southeastern outskirts of Berlin lies the charming little town of Erkner - a popular destination for many capital city residents to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city.

In the center of the city is the 10.800 square meter public town hall park. It begins directly behind the Villa Bechstein, today's town hall of the city of Erkner, and offers a charming view of the Dämeritzsee. The park is freely accessible at all times and information boards provide brief information about the various, sometimes rare trees - such as the Japanese cherry tree, the ginkgo and the Caucasian wingnut.

The "Erkner City Pier" is also located here, a public guest mooring that has been awarded the Yellow Wave. The Erkner regional and suburban train station with the central bus station, the Erkner - City Center bus stop and a passenger boat pier are very close to the park. The town hall park is the venue for an art market and children's festival during the local festival.

Not far from the park, on the other side of Friedrichstrasse, is the mulberry tree, the motif of the city's coat of arms. Nature lovers can start the "Bretterscher Graben" hiking trail from here, which leads along the Spree meadows that have been cultivated for over 260 years.
