The winter sports tradition in Bad Freienwalde dates back to 1923. The town owes its ski jumps and the tradition of winter sports days to the winter sports club founded at that time, although these have been dormant since the end of the 1950s and almost forgotten. The club was re-established in 2001 and rebuilt the ski jumps, initially ridiculed by many. After a 10-, a 20- and a 40-meter ski jump, a facility was built in 2008 that allows jumps of up to 70 meters. The tower is 32 meters high; 161 steps must be conquered before a breathtaking view of the Sparkasse ski arena and the forested and hilly surroundings of Bad Freienwalde is offered.
The ski jump tower is part of the Bad Freienwalde tower diploma.
